Speakers

Todd Edwards Captain (Ret.) Atlanta Fire Department

Captain Todd Edwards (Ret.) has over 36 years of experience in the fire service. Starting his career at 16 years old with a small combination department in Ohio, Todd then moved to Georgia where he spent more than 30 years with Atlanta Fire Rescue. During his career with Atlanta, he held a variety of positions including Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief. While with Atlanta, Todd developed and taught the majority of the city training curriculum and co-developed the city Standard Operating Guidelines.

After retiring in 2018, he served the city as a consultant and the lead instructor/coordinator for Atlanta’s Officer Development Program. While working with Atlanta, Todd was also the Lead Instructor for Walton County Fire Rescue in northeast Georgia. For the past 20 years, Todd has also been an adjunct instructor for the Georgia Fire Academy. Todd has also developed countless training programs currently being utilized by numerous departments, specializing in department-based curriculums for training and fire ground operations.


Mo Davis District Chief, City of Houston Fire Department

Maurice "Mo" Davis is a veteran member of the Houston Fire Department, currently assigned as a district chief. Previously, he served as a senior captain on a heavy rescue, one of three rescue trucks in Houston. Davis spent much of his career as a senior captain on Ladder 46 - on of the top five busiest trucks in the city - and served as captain in Engine 46 - the leader in the city for working fires and responses. Davis has served as a training officer, has trained new district fire chiefs. While he specializes in technical rescue, his passion is sharing leadership, and strategy and tactics information to up-and-coming officers. He served as an adjunct professor with San Jacinto, TX, Junior College in the Fire Protection Division. He holds an MS degree from the University of Houston.


Dennis Reilly Chief (Ret.) Pittsburg, KS

Dennis Reilly is a 48-year fire service veteran and retired fire chief and is the owner of The First Line Fire Service Training Company. Reilly served as the fire chief in Pittsburg, KS, and Sunrise Beach, MO, and as an assistant in North Carolina and California and retired as a battalion chief in Cherry Hill, NJ. He was an original member of New Jersey Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1. Reilly holds a master’s degree in public administration from Penn State University and is a CFO. He has spoken at numerous events, including the Command Officer Boot Camp and the Orlando Fire Conference. Reilly is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq during the Operation Desert Storm.


Matt Poole Chief, Garner FIre-Rescue

Chief Matthew Poole has been with the Garner Fire-Rescue for twenty-eight years and has been the chief of the department for the last thirteen. He holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Wilson Technical Community College and a Bachelors in Business Leadership and Management from William Peace University. He is a past president of the Wake County Association of Fire Chiefs and also past president of the Rotary Club of Garner. He has served as a coordinator for Wake Technical Community College and currently serves as an instructor for the NC Fire Officer III and NCAFC Executive Development Program


Alan Griffin Chief, Carolina Beach Fire Department - 1st Due Tactics

Chief Alan Griffin has over 29 years of experience in the North Carolina fire service. He is currently serving as the Fire Chief of Carolina Beach Fire Department where he has held that position for over 10 years. Since his appointment to the position in 2012, he has taken responsibility for the overall strategic leadership ensuring the department is well positioned to provide the best service to the citizens and visitors of the community.

Prior to his current position he worked as the Emergency Services Director for Montgomery County, North Carolina for 5 years where he also served as the volunteer Fire Chief of Biscoe Fire Department. Chief Griffin began his paid career at Pinehurst Fire Department in 1995, and before starting his paid career in the fire service, he volunteered for Seagrove Fire Department.

Chief Griffin has over 25 years of teaching experience as a certified instructor for the state of North Carolina. He has delivered fire training courses and presentations to numerous fire departments, regional fire seminars, and large conferences including 1st Due Operations conference, County Fire Tactics conference in Florida, and both the North and South Carolina Fire Chief's conferences. Alan is the owner of 1st Due Tactics, a company dedicated to improving and motivating today's fire service through quality instruction.
